At the end of this course the learner should be able to:

· Explain the basic differences between a matrix and functional organisation structure using examples
· Understand the reasons for defining structures of a project and the purpose of decomposing a project into manageable components or parts using examples.

· Developing a project costing budget and monitor the progress against the budget, monitor time, cost, the supply chain and project risks during all phases of the project cycle and evaluate project output and outcomes
· Explain the concept of a breakdown structure for product, work and cost, in simple terms
· Identify, gather from technical experts and prioritise specific activities within the objectives and scope of a project
· Document activities to the level of detail to support further planning and update related documents
· Develop activities in sequence with estimates of their duration
· Develop a simple schedule to facilitate effective project execution
· Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose and process of scheduling project activities
· Define and gather information about project activities from technical (subject matter) experts and within own field of expertise
· Develop a simple schedule for a project or part thereof
· Identify elements and resources to be costed through interpreting the project scope statement, work breakdown structure and other project data
· Participate in the preparation and production of a cost budget
